The internet has been a great tool for artists to connect directly with potential buyers and for buyers to discover and learn about new artists. Unfortunately it has also become a tool for unscrupulous sellers of forged artwork.
Patricia Cohen’s New York Times Article in the subject offers an interesting glimpse into what is happening online. Particularly interesting is the fact that it is the growth of the legitimate online market for fine art that has allowed more fraudulent art to be sold online.
