Call for Qualifications

The Utah Public Art Program has just released a call for artist’s qualifications for the new Agricultural Sciences Facility on the campus of Utah State University in Logan, Utah. The project is open to resident American or US legal resident professional artists/artist teams. The budget is $163,000. The deadline is February 10, 2011.The full RFQ is available at www.utahpublicart.org under “Call for Qualification” Artists may apply online or via CD.

The Art Selection Committee has stated: The art, like this building, should be inspired by and derived from the essence of the programs and research housed here. It is hoped the artist(s) will take into account the experiences of the resident researchers, faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The committee believes the art created should be an important part of the inspiration and stimulus for scientific inquiry and explorative academic work. The committee conveys its respectful request that proposing artists move beyond the literal interpretations of traditional agricultural themes and metaphors.
