Charlie Rose Interviews Chuck Close & Richard Serra (and others) in a Round Table on Creativity

In October, Charlie Rose closed his series on the Brain by talking about the creative brain. I didn’t see the interview live but an artist, Barbara Leiner, who I met in Boston last weekend, put me on to it. This is fascinating both from a scientific aspect, which was the impetus for the series, but also from an art history angle. I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art recently and I must have spent 20 minutes with two of the Chuck Close pieces in their modern gallery – spectacular. Give yourself some uninterrupted time to watch – you won’t regret it.

Favorite quote: “Inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us show up and go to work.” Chuck Close.
