We’ve opened our annual Mentorship program for applications. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Mentorship program, let me explain a little bit about how it works.
Each year, I select an artist to coach, one-on-one in live, bi-weekly broadcasts. This artist and I will discuss the fundamentals of building a successful art business – everything from consistency and quality of work, to how to put together a successful show. While I’ve shared a lot of this kind of information on the blog – it’s very powerful to work through each issue with the artist and see how the principles apply to his/her career.
These discussions aren’t just academic – I also work with the artist to prepare to show in Xanadu Gallery, and we work toward an exhibition featuring the artist’s work.
The best part about the Mentorship is that everyone who applies gets to watch the broadcast sessions live and ask questions and add their voices to the discussion. All participants can then take what we’ve discussed and shown and apply it to their own careers. It’s a practical, highly-interactive art career building experience for everyone involved!
