Lane’s artistic journey began in the rolling hills of southeastern Minnesota, where she spent her childhood days riding horses, building forts, and exploring the wonders of nature. At a young age, Lane discovered her passion for the arts, but life’s practicalities led her to pursue a career in furniture design.

Lane’s formal education in the furniture arts was marked by a series of impressive milestones, including a Wood Furniture Restoration degree in 1997, an Upholstery degree in 1998, and an Interior Design associate’s degree in 2003.

However, the call of the canvas proved too strong for Lane to resist. Through life’s challenges, Lane found herself drawn back to her true love for fine art. Her tenacity and commitment to her craft led her to intensive painting classes and programs in 2019, and her art career quickly took off.

Nestled in the heart of Milan, MO, Lane’s studio resides within the walls of a historic 1900s commercial brick building. Once a meeting room for the Mason’s lodge, the second-floor space now serves as the canvas for Lane’s captivating artwork.

Step inside, and you’ll be enveloped by an aura of inspiration as natural light floods the room, illuminating Lane’s creative process. Her technique begins with a frenzied dance fueled by a playlist of energetic music. Mark-making takes center stage as Lane’s hands bring her ideas to life on canvas. Layers of paint, graphite, and crayon are meticulously applied, conveying a sense of motion and stillness with each stroke.

A true master of her craft, Lane’s art has undergone a metamorphosis over time as she has honed her skills and broadened her techniques. Her unique style is born from a love of the imperfect, embracing the quirks and idiosyncrasies that come with handcrafted pieces. It’s this attention to detail and appreciation for the organic that makes Lane’s art truly one-of-a-kind.

Lane loves expressing the intangible through the tangible. As she delves into the artistic process, she finds herself in a flow state where the magic of creation unfolds before her eyes. Each stroke of her brush becomes a symbol of self-discovery, and the finished piece, a culmination of her innermost thoughts and feelings.

For Lane, art is not just a form of self-expression but a powerful tool for positive change in the world. She believes it is an artists responsibility to bridge the gap between visual and spoken language, offering alternative perspectives that spark conversations and inspire growth. Her work is a beacon of beauty and awareness, spreading joy and positivity wherever it is displayed. In Lane’s eyes, art is a catalyst for shaping the world into a brighter, more loving place.
