RedDot Podcast | Episode 020 | An Interview with Canadian Artist Ashley Anne Clark

Artist Ashley Anne Clark lives on remote Prince Edward Island in Canada’s maritime provinces. Clark focuses on wildlife subject-matter and shows her work in galleries in Canada and the United States. In her early thirties, Clark is still in the early phases of her career, but she’s already learned a lot about the business.

“It’s good to remember that it is a journey, and can be a struggle at times,” Clark says, “but as long as you just keep pushing forward and keep letting stuff out and keep creating, and eventually you’ll be moving forward.”

  1. Hi Jason & Ashley,
I enjoyed this podcast, it was very helpful. I resonated with the fact you are from PEI as I lived there and studied painting, drawing, with Hilda Woolnough Gool, a British Canadian Artist now, deceased. and Art History at UPEI. I then studied art in Halifax at the Nova Scotia College of Art and design. Last year we had the joy of revisiting that part of the world and The Island. PEI is a very special magical place for me. I have very happy memories of the summer of ’69 there. I think the having a physical Buyers Market, where you can show your work, is a great idea, I wonder if there is such an event where I live now in Aptos, California???

  2. As a PEI ex-pat (grew up Charlottetown in the 60’s and 70’s), I was delighted to listen to this podcast and hear of Ashley Anne’s experiences and successes. Great to hear that there is an artist community and support system there and I hope that will continue to grow – PEI is such an beautiful and visually inspiring place to be and to be able to maintain a working artist practice there is a great thing – congratulations Ashley Anne and much continued success! Thanks for the great podcast Jason!
